How breeding unlocks
Breeding unlocks after your first official race is completed. Practice races do not unlock breeding.
Parents must be at least age 3, younger than age 13, healthy, and have at least 60 Energy.
Choose owned horses or rentals
You can breed using stallions and mares from your own stable, or rent horses from other players. Rental fees vary depending on the horse's stats and achievements.
The breeding preview makes the final check for age, health, Energy, and conflicting actions before you confirm.
Bloodline, heritage, and compatibility
| Term | Meaning in TRM | Passed to foal |
|---|---|---|
| Bloodline | Paternal family line associated with the sire. | Inherited from sire. |
| Heritage | Maternal family line associated with the dam. | Inherited from dam. |
| Compatibility | Match rating comparing Bloodline and Heritage. | Affects success chance and potential. |
The five compatibility ratings are Poor Match, Risky Match, Balanced Match, Strong Match, and Excellent Match. Better matches usually help success rates, while Risky pairings create more variation.
What affects success chance
The breeding preview considers several factors:
- Parent age and Energy.
- Matching surface and distance preferences.
- Compatibility rating between Bloodline and Heritage.
- Relationship closeness (relatives carry penalties).
The final success chance is always between 25% and 75%.
Which relationships are blocked?
TRM blocks parent-child pairings and full siblings. TRM checks the parents and grandparents of both horses before allowing the pairing.
Read the preview before confirming
Before confirming, check the breeding preview summary:
- Success chance: The chance the attempt succeeds (25%-75%).
- Foal outlook: Expected potential range.
- Arrival time: 3 days for foal delivery.
- Total cost: Breeding fee plus any rental charges.
What a foal inherits
A successful foal arrives at age 1. The foal receives traits from both parents, with some variation:
- Bloodline from sire, Heritage from dam.
- Attributes, potential, archetype, and personality.
- Surface and distance preferences.
- Coat color and gender.
Foals cannot race or train at age 1. Training and racing begin at age 2.
Make room for the foal
A successful foal arrives after three days. If your stable is full, the foal will wait until you make room in your stable capacity.
