Find a race that suits your horse
Before entering, compare the race's surface (Dirt, Turf, Synthetic) and distance with your horse's preferences.
A horse can sometimes enter a race that does not match its preferences, but the entry fee may not be worth it.
Understand eligibility checks
TRM shows why each horse can or cannot enter. Common reasons include:
- Horses must be between age 2 and 8 to race.
- The race registration must still be open.
- The horse must meet class requirements.
- The horse cannot have another conflicting daily action.
- Your stable must have enough funds for the entry fee.

Choose your race prep
Race prep gives your horse a targeted boost for its next official race:

| Distance Prep | +10 Endurance | Sustaining distance is the main challenge. |

Choose a jockey
The local rider is free and always available. Hired jockeys can provide attribute bonuses, but have limited contract uses.
Save hired jockeys for important races where their bonus can make a difference.
Choose a race tactic

Tactics change how your horse approaches the race, but they do not guarantee a position.
Check the deadlines
Keep track of three key times on the entry screen:
- Registration close: No new entries allowed after this time.
- Withdrawal deadline: Last chance to withdraw your entry.
- Race lock time: Race details freeze for settlement.
Check the cost
Entering a race deducts the entry fee. Official races also reduce Energy when they settle; the exact cost appears on the race card and entry summary. Practice races cost no Energy.
Keep enough money for training, staff, equipment, recovery, and breeding.
After the race
